Welcome

The Community Engagement Studio of Flint (CESF) is committed to developing critical relationships with community residents, organizations, faith leaders, academic institutions, and other stakeholders including Community Based Organizations and Faith Based Organizations to ultimately improve the health outcomes of the greater Flint community through effective community engaged research, programming and advocacy.  The CESF utilizes a health equity lens with a community engagement approach in all of our programs, research and advocacy efforts!

Founded by Dr. Kent D. Key, the CESF’s overarching goal is to address racial and ethnic health disparities by utilizing community engagement strategies to identify and drive “community” relevant research priorities utilizing a health equity framework.

 
 

 CESF Vision:

The elimination of racial and ethnic health disparities and the eradication of systemic and structural inequities across all demographics. 

CESF Mission:

To utilize effective community engagement strategies with an equity framework to mobilize the under-represented, under-resourced and underserved populations to work towards community driven solutions.

CESF Approach:

We utilized a multi-faceted approach to community engagement which include:

  • Infusing History and Culture

  • Infusing Music, Arts and Multimedia

  • Addressing Issues of Mistrust and Fears

  • Building Equitable Partnerships

  • Building Culturally Tailored Messages

  • Creating Cross-sector Interdisciplinary Collaborations

  • Providing Effective Communication Strategies

  • Combining Shared Resources
